Description: Learn a historic skill to make a Shaving Horse and low work bench using historic and modern tools and methods. Learn what different styles of shaving horses were once used and make a convertible base that will accept the different types. Students will be able to pick one design that fits on the convertible base that will best fit their use. Examples of some of the heads available are shown below. Students should feel comfortable using hand tools.
When: Saturday May 17, 9:00AM – 5:00PM (bring your own lunch).
Instructor: Peter Cooper. Peter has been Green Woodworking and coopering since 1997. He has taught coopering to over 500 students, and made coopered products for National historic sites, national parks and theme parks in the US and Canada.
Cost: $183.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials.
Skill Level: Beginner (students ages 14-18 are allowed if accompanied by an adult).
Class size: Minimum 2, maximum 5 students.
Location: Wabash & Erie Canal Park, Carpenter Shop.

Terms and Conditions:
- Registration and payment are required at least two weeks prior to the class dates.
- All classes require pre-registration and pre-payment.
- To reserve your spot and pre-pay by check, please mail a check to Canal Park, attn: Classes, 1030 N. Washington Street, Delphi, IN 46923. Please identify your desired class(es) in the check’s memo. A fee will be charged for returned checks.
- We reserved the right to cancel classes if minimum registrations are not met. If we cancel a class, students can transfer without a penalty. A full refund (minus credit card fees) will be given to students who do not wish to transfer to another class.
- Students may cancel or transfer classes up to two weeks prior to a class without losing their payment (minus credit card fees). Deadline to register is two weeks prior to class.
- Students may cancel their registration until two weeks prior to the class date. After this two week deadline, there will be no refunds or transfers.
- If a student transfers to another class prior to the two weeks of class, a 20% transfer fee will be charged. The transfer must be for a class within one year of the original class.
