DescriptionLearn a historic skill to make a wooden one-handled bucket using historic tools and methods.  Learn what old tools are still available today and make some that aren’t.  Students must feel comfortable using hand tools and will be learning to make staves, bottom, and hoops. Size: 6” w x 5 ½” height + handle = 11” height

When: Saturday, June 20, 9:00AM-2:00PM. Students may stay later if needed to complete their project.

Instructor: Peter Cooper.  Peter has been coopering since 1997.  He has taught coopering to over 500 students, and made coopered products for National historic sites, national parks and theme parks in the US and Canada.

Cost: $69.00, includes all materials and fees but does NOT include lunch.

Skill Level: Adult students preferred, but teenagers may participate with an adult.

Class Size: Minimum 2, maximum 6 students.

Location: Cooper Shop

Participants Bring: An apron or work clothing and gloves.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Registration and payment are required at least two weeks prior to the class dates.
  • All classes require pre-registration and pre-payment.
  • To reserve your spot and pre-pay by check, please mail a check to Canal Park, attn: Classes, 1030 N. Washington Street, Delphi, IN 46923. Please identify your desired class(es) in the check’s memo. A fee will be charged for returned checks. 
  • We reserved the right to cancel classes if minimum registrations are not met.  If we cancel a class, students can transfer without a penalty.  A full refund (minus credit card fees) will be given to students who do not wish to transfer to another class. 
  • Students may cancel or transfer classes up to two weeks prior to a class without losing their payment (minus credit card fees).  Deadline to register is two weeks prior to class.
  • Students may cancel their registration until two weeks prior to the class date. After this two week deadline, there will be no refunds or transfers.
  • If a student transfers to another class prior to the two weeks of class, a 20% transfer fee will be charged.  The transfer must be for a class within one year of the original class.
