The center encourages catered events and will work with food service providers to create the best possible experience. A list of caterers is available, but you may also use any caterer of your choice. Any group using the facility can bring food and beverages. Groups may rent all or part of the conference space. The warming kitchen is limited to users of the large hall or full hall.
Smoking
There is no smoking inside the Center, however outdoor areas are provided.
Tables/Chairs
We provide all events with tables and chairs up to capacity. However, tenants are responsible for set up and tear down of their tables and chairs unless contractual arrangements are made.
Alcohol
Serving beer and wine beverages is allowed indoors, provided all contractual requirements are met. This requires additional fees. Security may be required.
deposit
Any group using the facility is required to make a damage deposit. The full deposit will be returned when the facility is left clean and orderly.
- What’s the difference between the 25% deposit and the $150 damage deposit?
- The 25% deposit is required to reserve your date on our venue calendar. This non-refundable deposit is 1/4 the total balance of your rental, and is an initial requirement of the reservation process. The $150 damage deposit is required 15 days prior to your event. Writing a check to Wabash & Erie Canal Park is the most common method. We hold onto this check until after your event has concluded. When we have determined that there were no damages or overstay on your rental, this $150 damage deposit will be returned to you.
- Can my group complete the tear-down and cleanup tasks ourselves, or do Canal Staffmembers take care of this?
- “Tear-down” refers to putting all tables and chairs back to our “standard setup.” “Cleanup” refers to vacuuming, wiping tables and chairs, cleaning the catering kitchen, and removing trash to the dumpster. These services are included in the cost of events like weddings, quinceaneras, and more. For some other events, these services may be completed by the tenant. Please ask our office if you have questions.
