DESCRIPTION:Description: Students will learn to spin using foot-powered spinning wheel\, and spin wool.  This is for those who have taken an Intro to Spinning Class or have some spinning experience.  You may bring your own spinning wheel or use one of the teacher’s. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, October 12\, 9:00AM – 12:30PM. \nInstructor: Beth Cripe. Beth Cripe fell in love with spinning 8 years ago learning to spin from a friend.  After spinning Suri Alpaca fiber and loving it\, Beth now breeds Suri Alpacas.  She demonstrates spinning and weaving at several reenactments\, including Feast of Hunter’s Moon\, Colonial Market Days\, and Kohkohmah.  In 2022 and 2023\, Beth’s hand spun yarn won Judge’s Choice award at Suri Network National Fleece Show. \nCost: $63.00. SUMMARY:Broom Making Class - Fall 2024
DESCRIPTION:Description: Learn to make a whisk broom. Try your hand at traditional Appalachian broom making using a tying box (miniature winder).  In this class we will explore options for whisk brooms. First timers will make turkey wing\, hawks’ tail\, hen’s wing.  Part 2\, for those who have done the prior\, will have the option of doubles\, X’s\, and emphasis on plaiting.  Choice of plaiting and cord colors. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, August 31\, 9:00AM – 1:00PM \nInstructor: Bev Larson. In 2009 Bev added broom making to her weaving experience and it too is now a passion.  In 2016 she received the honor of being named an Indiana Artisan by the State of Indiana for both broom making and basket weaving. \nCost: $82.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. \nSkill Level: Beginner\, age 16 to adult. \nClass Size: Minimum 4 students\, maximum 8 students. \nLocation: Wabash & Erie Canal Park\, Pioneer Village: Broom Maker Shop (or wherever it is warm enough that day). \nTerms and Conditions: \n\nRegistration and payment are required at least two weeks prior to the class dates.\nAll classes require pre-registration and pre-payment.\nTo reserve your spot and pre-pay by check\, please mail a check to Canal Park\, attn: Classes\, 1030 N. Washington Street\, Delphi\, IN 46923. Please identify your desired class(es) in the check’s memo. A fee will be charged for returned checks. \nWe reserved the right to cancel classes if minimum registrations are not met.  If we cancel a class\, students can transfer without a penalty.  A full refund (minus credit card fees) will be given to students who do not wish to transfer to another class. \nStudents may cancel or transfer classes up to two weeks prior to a class without losing their payment (minus credit card fees).  Deadline to register is two weeks prior to class.\nStudents may cancel their registration until two weeks prior to the class date.
