DESCRIPTION:Description: This class is designed for those students who would like to learn the basics of spinning fiber into yarn.  Students will learn to draft the wool fiber and spin it into yarn using a drop spindle.  Near the end of the class\, the students will get to try spinning on a traditional spinning wheel. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, May 23\, 9:00AM – 12:30PM \nInstructor: Beth Cripe. Beth Cripe fell in love with spinning 8 years ago learning to spin from a friend.  After spinning Suri Alpaca fiber and loving it\, Beth now breeds Suri Alpacas.  She demonstrates spinning and weaving at several reenactments\, including Feast of Hunter’s Moon\, Colonial Market Days & Kohkohmah.  In 2022 & 2023\, Beth’s hand spun yarn won Judge’s Choice award at Suri Network National Fleece Show. \nCost: $63.00\, includes all materials and fees. \nSkill Level: Beginner\, age limit 12-14+\, depends on attention span since it is a long class. Students will learn to prepare wool yarn for dyeing.  They will learn to prepare the indigo dye bath and dye the wool yarn.  The Indigo dyeing technique is completely different than any other dyeing technique.   Students should wear old clothes and/or bring an apron. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, May 2\, 9:00AM – 12:30PM \nInstructor: Beth Cripe. Beth Cripe spins Suri Alpaca fiber\, which she has won awards with her hand spun yarn.  Yarn will be used in the dyeing process. \nCost: $63.00\, including all fees and materials. \nSkill Level: No previous experience needed. Perhaps Wild Ginger and May Apples will be in their blooming prime\, while some wildflowers like Dutchman’s Breeches may still be blooming. \nThe photo above shows White Trout Lilies blooming in a sea of their own leaves. We may also see the baby turtles that appear this time of year. \nSeasonal migrating birds are back. Perhaps we will see the Baltimore Orioles that nest at the upper end of the Towpath Trail. \nThe public\, of all ages and skill levels\, is invited to join for this guided walk. Narrating the walk will be David McCain\, and the group will depart from the Interpretive Center at 1030 N. Washington Street in Delphi.

The snowmen can be freestanding or an ornament. \n \nWhen: Saturday September 20\, 9:00AM – 12:00PM \nInstructor: Karen Bradshaw.  About 20 years ago at a Fiber Fest\, Karen got instructions for wool felting and has enjoyed creating different items ever since.  She has many wool felted items on her Christmas tree. \nCost: $79.00. DESCRIPTION:Description: This class is designed for those students who have taken the Beginning Spinning Class or have some previous experience in spinning.  Students will learn to draft the wool fiber and spin it into yarn using the traditional spinning wheel.  Students may bring their own spinning wheel. Students may try an e-spinner. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, September 6\, 9:00AM – 12:30PM \nInstructor: Beth Cripe. Beth fell in love with spinning 8 years ago learning to spin from a friend.  After spinning Suri Alpaca fiber and loving it\, Beth now breeds Suri Alpacas.  She demonstrates spinning and weaving at several reenactments\, including Feast of Hunter’s Moon\, Colonial Market Days & Kohkohmah.  In 2022 & 2023\, Beth’s hand spun yarn won Judge’s Choice award at Suri Network National Fleece Show. \nCost: $63.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. \nSkill Level: Requires having taken Beginning Spinning class or having some spinning experience. \nClass size: Minimum 2\, maximum 6 students.
