DESCRIPTION:Description: Learn weaving by making either 4 coasters or 2 coasters and a small runner on a rigid heddle loom.  Finish projects with a hemstitch. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, September 20\, 10:00AM – 3:00PM (bring your own lunch). \nInstructors: Instructors are members of Weaving Guild.  The Weaving Guild has existed for 40 years.  Jan Young\, wove hot pads as a child in 4-H\, taught elementary school for 40 years\, and now not only weaves cloth but also weaves stories at Feast of the Hunter’s Moon (since 1977).  Vilija Deutschman is a long-time weaver who also loves the history and heritage of this craft.  Sue Hodge\, a retired accountant\, who has lived in Carroll County for 43 years\, and has been weaving for 8 years.  She also enjoys knitting and quilting. Susan Smith is a retired math teacher and has been weaving for 9 years. She enjoys mixing fibers and colors to create woven items for her home and wardrobe and is looking forward to sharing the joys of weaving in the class. \nCost: $38.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. \nSkill Level: Beginner\, age 10 or older. DESCRIPTION:Description: Students will learn to prepare wool yarn for dyeing using mordants.  They will learn different dyeing techniques in Colonial America and across the world.  Students will take home their own hand dyed skeins of wool yarn.  Students should wear old clothes and bring an apron. The Traditional Natural Dyeing Class will be held outside using extension cords and crock pots. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, September 20\, 9:00AM – 12:30PM \nInstructor: Beth Cripe. Beth spins Suri Alpaca fiber\, which she has won awards with her hand spun yarn.  Yarn will be used in the dyeing process. \nCost: $63.00. DESCRIPTION:Description: This class is designed for those students who have taken the Beginning Spinning Class or have some previous experience in spinning.  Students will learn to draft the wool fiber and spin it into yarn using the traditional spinning wheel.  Students may bring their own spinning wheel. Students may try an e-spinner. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, September 6\, 9:00AM – 12:30PM \nInstructor: Beth Cripe. Beth fell in love with spinning 8 years ago learning to spin from a friend.  After spinning Suri Alpaca fiber and loving it\, Beth now breeds Suri Alpacas.  She demonstrates spinning and weaving at several reenactments\, including Feast of Hunter’s Moon\, Colonial Market Days & Kohkohmah.  In 2022 & 2023\, Beth’s hand spun yarn won Judge’s Choice award at Suri Network National Fleece Show. \nCost: $63.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. \nSkill Level: Requires having taken Beginning Spinning class or having some spinning experience. \nClass size: Minimum 2\, maximum 6 students. DESCRIPTION:Description: Using natural broomcorn and choice of color cord\, learn to make this beautiful round broom with turnover tops. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, August 30\, 9:00AM – 1:00PM \nInstructor: Bev Larson.  In 2009 Bev added broom making to her weaving experience and it too is now a passion.  In 2016 she received the honor of being named an Indiana Artisan by the State of Indiana for both broom making and basket weaving. \nCost: $70.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. \nSkill Level: Beginner\, age 17 or older. \nClass size: Minimum 2\, maximum 10 students. \nLocation:  Wabash & Erie Canal Park\, Speece Picnic Shelter (if not raining). \nParticipants Bring: Nothing. \nTerms and Conditions: \n\nRegistration and payment are required at least one week prior to the class dates.\nAll classes require pre-registration and pre-payment.\nTo reserve your spot and pre-pay by check\, please mail a check to Canal Park\, attn: Classes\, 1030 N. Washington Street\, Delphi\, IN 46923. Please identify your desired class(es) in the check’s memo. A fee will be charged for returned checks. \nWe reserved the right to cancel classes if minimum registrations are not met.  If we cancel a class\, students can transfer without a penalty.  A full refund (minus credit card fees) will be given to students who do not wish to transfer to another class. \nStudents may cancel or transfer classes up to two weeks prior to a class without losing their payment (minus credit card fees).  Deadline to register is one week prior to class.\nStudents may cancel their registration until one week prior to the class date. After this one week deadline\, there will be no refunds or transfers.\nIf a student transfers to another class prior to the two weeks of class\, a 20% transfer fee will be charged.  The transfer must be for a class within one year of the original class.
