DESCRIPTION:Description: Make a needle felted lamb approximately 4.5 inches. The lamb can be free standing or as an ornament. \n \nWhen: Saturday May 17\, 9:00AM – 12:00PM \nInstructor: Karen Bradshaw.  About 20 years ago at a Fiber Fest\, Karen got instructions for wool felting and has enjoyed creating different items ever since.  She has many wool felted items on her Christmas tree. \nCost: $79.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. \nSkill Level: Beginner\, age 16 or older. \nClass size: Minimum 2\, maximum 6 students. \nLocation:  Wabash & Erie Canal Park\, Bowen Cabin \nParticipants Bring: Nothing \nTerms and Conditions: \n\nRegistration and payment are required at least two weeks prior to the class dates.\nAll classes require pre-registration and pre-payment.\nTo reserve your spot and pre-pay by check\, please mail a check to Canal Park\, attn: Classes\, 1030 N. Washington Street\, Delphi\, IN 46923. Please identify your desired class(es) in the check’s memo. SUMMARY:Shaving Horse - Spring 2025
DESCRIPTION:Description: Learn a historic skill to make a Shaving Horse and low work bench using historic and modern tools and methods.  Learn what different styles of shaving horses were once used and make a convertible base that will accept the different types.  Students will be able to pick one design that fits on the convertible base that will best fit their use.  Examples of some of the heads available are shown below.  Students should feel comfortable using hand tools. \n \nWhen: Saturday May 17\, 9:00AM – 5:00PM (bring your own lunch). \nInstructor: Peter Cooper.  Peter has been Green Woodworking and coopering since 1997.  He has taught coopering to over 500 students\, and made coopered products for National historic sites\, national parks and theme parks in the US and Canada. \nCost: $183.00. DESCRIPTION:Description: Learn weaving by making either 4 coasters or 2 coasters and a small runner on a rigid heddle loom.  Finish projects with a hemstitch. \n \nWhen: Saturday May 17\, 10:00AM – 3:00PM (bring your own lunch). \nInstructors: Instructors are members of Weaving Guild.  The Weaving Guild has existed for 40 years.  Jan Young\, wove hot pads as a child in 4-H\, taught elementary school for 40 years\, and now not only weaves cloth but also weaves stories at Feast of the Hunter’s Moon (since 1977).  Vilija Deutschman is a long-time weaver who also loves the history and heritage of this craft.  Sue Hodge\, a retired accountant\, who has lived in Carroll County for 43 years\, and has been weaving for 8 years.  She also enjoys knitting and quilting. Susan Smith is a retired math teacher and has been weaving for 9 years. She enjoys mixing fibers and colors to create woven items for her home and wardrobe and is looking forward to sharing the joys of weaving in the class. \nCost: $38.00.
