SUMMARY:Coopering Bucket Class (Day 2) - Fall 2024
DESCRIPTION:Description: Learn a historic skill to make a wooden bucket using historic tools and methods.  Learn what old tools are still available today and make some that aren’t.  Students should feel comfortable using hand tools and will be learning to make staves\, bottom\, hoops and rope handles.  This a 2-day class. You may purchase tickets at this link. \n \nWhen: Friday and Saturday\, September 20-21\, with a one hour lunch break each day (bring your own lunch) \nInstructor: Peter Cooper.  Peter has been coopering since 1997.  He has taught coopering to over 500 students\, and made coopered products for national historic sites\, national parks and theme parks in the US and Canada. \nCost: $250.00. This cost covers registration and all necessary materials. You may purchase tickets at this link. \nSkill Level: Beginner. DESCRIPTION:Description: Learn weaving on historic looms in this class\, making one or two rag placemats on a large rag loom. This is a one-day class and is a take-home project. \n \nWhen: Saturday\, September 21\, 9:15AM-12:30PM. \nInstructors:Members of the Wabash Weaving Guild.  The Weaving Guild has existed for 40 years.  Ryoko Marti\, the instructor\, has been weaving 20 years.  She retired from accounting; she “used to count money and now counts threads;  it’s much more fun.”  Jan Young\, the instructor\, wove hot pads as a child in 4-H\, taught elementary school for 40 years\, and now not only weaves cloth but also weaves stories at Feast of the Hunter’s Noon (since 1977). \nCost: $57.00 for students making ONE placemat. $69.00 for students making TWO placemats.
