Join us at the 2026 Volunteer Fair and get a behind-the-scenes look at the people and skills that make this historic site thrive. This event will take place at the Interpretive Center on April 18 from 1:00-3:00PM. \nMeet the knowledgeable volunteers who keep the park running and learn about the many ways you can get involved. Opportunities include serving as a tour guide\, boat crew member\, gardener\, historic trades artisan\, historian\, and more. \nVolunteering is a great way to connect with your community\, share your talents\, and discover meaningful purpose while helping preserve local history. No prior experience is needed; our welcoming team will provide all the necessary training. All you need is a desire to make a difference. \nRefreshments will be provided. SUMMARY:Spring Wildflower Nature Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Wabash & Erie Canal Park at 2:30pm\, April 18 and see blooming spring wildflowers. Perhaps Wild Ginger and May Apples will be in their blooming prime\, while some wildflowers like Dutchman’s Breeches may still be blooming. \nThe photo above shows White Trout Lilies blooming in a sea of their own leaves. We may also see the baby turtles that appear this time of year. \nSeasonal migrating birds are back. Perhaps we will see the Baltimore Orioles that nest at the upper end of the Towpath Trail. \nThe public\, of all ages and skill levels\, is invited to join for this guided walk. Narrating the walk will be David McCain\, and the group will depart from the Interpretive Center at 1030 N. Washington Street in Delphi.
