Your financial partnership restores and preserves a rare, important piece of early Indiana history and provides hands-on learning opportunities for people of all ages. By supporting the Wabash & Erie Canal with your gifts, you also can come and enjoy the natural beauty of Indiana's last remaining public watered section of the Wabash & Erie Canal. By visiting this unique waterway, created by this organization, you can enjoy a hike along the miles of trails networking the historical features marked along the towpath. Indoors, our museum “walks you through time” starting when this undeveloped area was being settled by immigrants. Follow the winding path through a dozen galleries and discover when the “end of the canal” is highlighted by the coming of the railroad.

Canals played historical roles in their respective states. The Wabash & Erie Canal was particularly influential in Indiana’s early development and provided some motivation for writing Indiana’s second constitution.

When completed, the Wabash & Erie Canal stretched 468 miles from Toledo, Ohio to Evansville, Indiana. Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Inc. is preserving the only remaining public recreational section of the Wabash & Erie Canal left in Indiana. This helps provide a historical perspective for thousands of visitors each year.
